The patients frequently ask whether they can have a neck lift by itself instead of a facelift. In some cases, particularly with minimal excess skin and mainly neck banding and some fullness in the neck from adipose tissue (fat), refinement of the neck can be done by itself. If there is a significant excess skin in the neck, however, some form of mini-facelift or facelift is usually required to remove that excess skin by moving it outward toward the ears. Usually it seems people’s hesitation is based on the perception that a mini-facelift or facelift will result in scars, which are visible in social situations, but this is simply not the case as long as care is taken to hide the incisions around the ears as we do. We have many examples of the type of well-hidden scars that we are able to achieve, and these can be viewed during your consultation.
