Q-What is a mini facelift?
A-A mini facelift is a less invasive version of the traditional facelift. The mini facelift can improve sagging of the lower face and neck including the jaw line and jowls. This procedure can typically be customized to address the patient's particular needs and generally involves a less extensive recovery with decreased bruising and swelling.

Q-Are there any limitations to what a mini facelift can achieve?
A-The mini facelift is a less extensive version of the traditional facelift and, as such, cannot achieve the same dramatic results of a full facelift.

Q-Is a mini facelift right for me?
A-If you are looking to improve sagging of the lower face and neck with minimal downtime, then a mini facelift may be right for you. Patients must also be physically healthy and realistic in your expectations. Patients must understand that the mini facelift cannot achieve the same dramatic results as a traditional full facelift. This surgery is often ideal for patients who are younger and have less extensive sagging that does not warrant a traditional facelift. Q-What happens at the consultation for a mini facelift?
A-During the consultation for a mini facelift, Dr. Donath will meet with you to examine your face, discuss your goals, and take a thorough medical history. He will weigh other factors like your skin type, ethnicity, individual healing, bone structure and skin elasticity to help determine if the mini facelift is right for you. Dr. Donath will explain the technique, the anesthesia, the surgical facility, the risks and the costs associated with procedure. He will also be sure to answer any questions or concerns that you may have. Additional procedures, such as facial liposuction or skin resurfacing, may be recommended if they can help to achieve your desired look.

Q-What anesthesia is the mini facelift performed with?
A-The mini facelift may be performed with local anesthesia and sedation.

Q-How is the surgery for a mini facelift performed?
A-Dr. Donath begins the mini facelift surgery by making incisions which are typically smaller than the traditional facelift and are located along the hairline and/or near the ears. He may then alter the facial muscles if necessary, pull the skin back, and remove excess skin.

Q-Where are the mini facelift incisions made?
A-The incisions for the mini facelift are typically located in along the hairline and/or near the ears. they are usually smaller than those made for a traditional facelift.

Q-Will I have scars after my mini facelift?
A-While the incisions made for the mini facelift will result in scars, they are typically small and well concealed within the hairline and/or within the natural skin creases around the ears. Incisions and resultant scars are smaller than those of a full facelift.

Q-Does the mini facelift involve much pain?
A-There is usually minimal discomfort associated with the mini facelift.

Q-What is the recovery from a mini facelift like?
A-Patients can expect some amount of swelling and bruising after the mini facelift, though this is typically less than after a traditional facelift. Pain and discomfort are generally minimal. Rigorous activities will be prohibited for a period of time.

Q-When will I be able to resume work after my mini facelift?
A-Work and most other normal activities can typically be resumed within about one week after the mini facelift.
